WEC Hope
WEC Hope is a company operated by WEC International to initiate Biblically based ministries and fundraising for the purpose of relieving poverty, sickness, suffering, distress, misfortune, disability or helplessness of people in the community of Australia.
Who We Support
WEC
WEC (Worldwide Evangelisation for Christ) is an international organisation whose primary goal is to share the gospel of Jesus with those who have never heard. We aim to go to the least evangelised people and give them the opportunity to hear why Jesus came and why He had to die....
In 1913, as CT Studd prepared to sail to Africa, the Lord gave him a huge vision:
‘This journey is not just for Africa, it is for the whole un-evangelised world.’
From this vision WEC was born.
WEC is 1800+ people from over 50 nations working in over 80 nations.
WEC is a fellowship of Christ followers who are willing to go anywhere in the world that he asks us to go.
Freedom to Flourish
Supporting healing and growth for people from refugee backgrounds. Freedom to Flourish is a joint partnership between Sydney Refugee Team and other Christian refugee support ministries.
We offer low cost counselling services to individuals..., families and groups. We run trauma healing groups. We promote community groups for a sense of belonging and safety. We offer therapeutic garden, art, and craft programs. We also journey with people as they find and develop their own strengths in dealing with their trauma.
Sydney Refugee Team
Sydney Refugee Team share the hope, love and truth of Jesus with people seeking asylum and refuge. We demonstrate God's character through building genuine relationships and offering physical, emotional, social and spiritual support. In this we help equip and empower people to settle into... a new culture. We seek to engage and equip the local church in doing the same.
Your financial support will help provide regular food parcels, supermarket gift cards, and assistance with utility and health-related bills to those who are under financial strain. We run camps and social activities that help promote a sense of belonging and well-being. We assist in crisis and mental health support. We provide gifts of encouragement and gospel resources.
Our History
WEC International has been operating since 1913, beginning with ministry in the Congo by CT Studd. Throughout the world today WEC is present in 80 countries sharing the Hope of Jesus to people who have not heard, or have little chance to hear, of Jesus. In the 1950's work began in Australia to encourage people into WEC's intercultural ministries. In 1956 a training college was begun in Launceston, Tasmania, which has (and is still) trained almost 2,000 people for Cross Cultural work.
WEC currently has several ministries to those who find themselves in need of help, including Rainbows of Hope for children and Betel for those with drug dependancies.
Recognising the increase in refugees and others requiring help, in 2021 WEC Australia set up WEC Hope as a direct ministry to help those in need.
Currently there are two main support ministries, the Sydney Refugee Team and Freedom to Flourish, who both work specifically with refugees who find themselves in a new country, new language, new rules, new culture having left all they had in their homeland.
In the future we will add more ministries within WEC Hope.
